Intermittent fasting is sustainable long term and can promote some serious health benefits. However, if you want to lose weight fast for a wedding, reunion, or other special occasion fasting one day a week will not cut it. For quick weight loss, many have resorted to extended periods of time without food.

Beyonce Knowles famously lost 20 pounds in 10 days with to film Dreamgirls. She did this with a “maple syrup diet.” It was essentially a fast.

The fast consisted of dirking a strange mix for 10 days. This mix consisted of 3 quarts of water, 1 cup of lemon juice, 1 cup of pure maple syrup, and 1 teaspoon of cayenne.

So if you need to drop some pounds fast, think about following Beyonce’s lead and trying some maple syrup mix!

By definition, fasting is going without food or drink for some extended period of time. People may fast for cultural, spiritual, or religious reasons. More recently, fasting has been a tool to achieve weight loss. The logic is simple. Excess calories lead to weight gain, and fasting is a good way to forego calories.

The problem is that food and drink are essential for survival. So how does one go without food? Simple. To begin fasting, try to avoid eating just one day per week. If you don’t increase your calorie consumption significantly on the other 6 days of the week, weight loss is the logical conclusion.

Fasts don’t need to take place from midnight to midnight. Try fasting from 6 p.m on Thursday to 6 p.m on Friday. This way, you can eat both days but still get in a solid 24 hours without food.
